Junior Company Pre-Professional Program and the Tween Company Program are designed for

the serious young dancer, who is aspiring to a professional career. The classes are taught in a series

of workshops of various dance forms to train a well-rounded artist dancer. The classes are taught by

members of ACDT, and will include workshops in Modern, Social dance, Swing, Middle Eastern,

African, Ballet, Jazz, Partnering, Theater, Voice, Improvisation, Hip Hop, Flamenco, Composition,

and Choreography.

The Nutcracker

and the Mouse King

Asheville Contemporary Dance Theatre’s The Nutcracker and the Mouse King is back by popular demand, and in response to numerous requests we have decided to offer a daytime show for area schools.

While most people are familiar with Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, ACDT’s version returns to the original story written by E.T.A. Hoffman in 1816 and features characters both familiar and unfamiliar.

The Nutcracker and the Mouse King is a delightful show that is appropriate for all ages.  It is both entertaining and educational; the book can be taught alongside the performance.

This daytime show will be performed on Friday December the 2nd at 10:00 am and is approximately 90 minutes long.  Schools need to call ACDT at 828-254-2621 in order to register to be a part of this exciting event.  The deadline to sign up is November 22nd, and it costs $5.00 a student to attend.
